Speaker: Liew Heng San

Before his retirement after over 30 years of public service, Mr Liew held the appointments of Chief Executive Officer of the Central Provident Fund Board, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Law, Managing Director of the Economic Development Board and Chief Executive of Land Transport Authority.

He currently serves on the Board of the Singapore Bible College and as Chairman of the World Vision Singapore Advisory Council,among other corporate responsibilities.

He is married with three sons and worships at the Telok Ayer Chinese Methodist Church.

Jim Firnstahl is the President and Director of CBMC International, a global association of Christian business and professional leaders with locations in over 90 countries.

Jim began a 17 year career in international banking and capital markets in New York City with JP Morgan, Chase & Co. He then spent 8 years with Wells Fargo Corporation and while with Wells Fargo he started an en8rely new business in the area of business loan securi8zation.

Prior to his current appointment with CBMC International, Jim served as CFO and Director of Grant Road Lumber Company (family owned) in Tucson, AZ. Prior to that he was the CFO of General PaWern Company. Jim joined General PaWern when his own company, Rapid Design Technologies Corporation was acquired. Rapid Design was a company he started to develop powder metal tooling techtechnology for injection molding applications.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations from the University of Minnesota; an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Masters of Arts in Chris8an Thought from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota USA. He is also a Director of the Veritas Forum at the University of Arizona. Jim and his wife Emily have one grown daughter and reside in Tucson, AZ.

As a former international banker, experienced corporate officer and consultant, Jim speaks on business financial topics, the capital markets as well as how small and large organizations can develop and execute comeback strategies.

CBMC Business Dinner in July 2015

Speaker - TC Choong has been involved in the legal sectore most of his career. He was variously a law lecturer (at the National University of Singapore), a partner at one of the then biggest law firms in Singapore, the proprietor of a legal practice specialising in China Practice and finally, a regulator in Hong Kong's securities industry.

In 2002, TC moved his whole family to Hong Kong believing that he had been called to serve God in North Asia. Some years later, feeling indebted to God's blessing for his whole family, TC surrendered his secular career to God and began teaching God's Word full time. By God's grace, in the course of his ministry TC has led hundreds to Christ.

After more than a decade away, he is now based back in Singapore and is focusing on teaching His Word. He is happily married with three sons.

TC will share his story with us.

Gospel Violin Concert by Shang Quan

"Filled with the greatest love of God, Shang's Gospel music has touched the heart of every listener with the Holy Spirit." , Los Angeles

SHANG QUAN, a renowned violinist and music producer was born in Beijing. He started playing the violin at age eight, and became the youngest member of China's Musicians Association in 1986.

He has performed live on several TV and radio programs and was the first Chinese musician to play solo-violin in a Hollywood movie. Shang Quan was awarded the "Special Commendation of Artistic Contribution" by the City of Los Angeles.

He currently lives in Australia, but continues to spread his music and touch the hearts of listeners around the world.

Dr. David Liang

was the Head of Space Systems and Technology, Canadian Department of National Defence (DND). He was responsible for all space related research and development activities including satellite communications, surveillance of space, surveillance from space, ballistic missile defence and nuclear related R&D. In 1991, he received a special Departmental commendation for his R&D contributions. In 1996, he received a Certificate of Award presented by NATO Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development. He has written four books: one on Personal Evangelism; one on Christian Apologetics and one for Evangelistic Bible Study. The most recent one is on Bible Prophecy. He is the Board Member of Chinese Christian Mission Canada and former Chairman of the Board, Ambassadors For Christ, USA. He took early retirement in Feb 03 so that he has more time to serve in Kingdom Ministries.

Dr Tan Lai Yong

graduated from NUS in1985. In 1996, he and his family moved to Yunnan, China, and joined a community development team, working with the poverty affected in remote villages, caring for orphans, disabled children and leprosy affected. In his 15 years on Yunnan, he had to cycle about 30 km daily, create innovative ways to teach health and hygiene to the different Minority Ethnic groups and villages, plan for "surgery camps" for cleft palate babies and other disabled people, and also initiated tree planting (eg walnut) efforts that led to thousands of trees being planted to help raise farm income and also reduce soil erosion.

Dr Tan Soo Inn

is a Director of Graceworks, a training and publishing consultancy committed to promoting spiritual friendship in church and society. He runs this ministry in partnership with his wife, Bernice. He also serves as teaching pastor of Evangel Christian Church, Singapore. Bernice and Soo Inn have four sons. Dr Tan has a BDS from the University of Singapore, a ThM in New Testament from Regent College, Vancouver, and a DMin from Fuller Seminary. His primary passions include connecting the Word of God to the struggles of daily life , and the promotion of the discipline of spiritual friendship.

The whole day was for rest, relaxation & renewal of friendships.

The convention ended officially with a dinner at Bliss Garden Restaurant, Singapore EXPO.

This dinner was open to non-delegates.

Dr. Stephen Riady is President of the Lippo Group of companies. Lippo consists of private and listed companies throughout the Asia-Pacific region, with over US$10 billion in assets. Among his many directorships, he is Executive Chairman of Overseas Union Enterprise Limited, a listed company in Singapore. His service to society includes such civic engagements of several education institutions overseas including being a member of the Advisory Board of Sloan School of Management of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Riady is a graduate of the University of Southern California and holds a Master Degree of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, USA. Among his many accolades, he received the Strategic Investment Enterpreneur of the Year in Ernst & Young's annual Enterpreneur of Year Awards Singapore 2007.

Topic: Finding God in Today's World of Technology

Professor Freddy Boey has been working in Nanyang Technological University for almost 25 years and is presently Provost Designate. Freddy has active scientific research in biomedical devices and nano-materials for sensors and energy storage, having founded several start-up companies based on his patents. He is also a board director of several companies and sits on other Singapore scientific and technology based panels. He is an Elder of RiverLife Church. He served as Honorary Gen Sec of Scripture Union, while at the same time doing his PhD. He continues to preach and teach God's Word in churches and groups around Singapore, ASEAN and China. He has also authored two books, "These Things Must Happen" & "Dove, Fire, River, Wind – portraits of the Holy Spirit"
